The gut is home to billions of bacteria and yeasts that make up the <strong>microbiome<\/strong> : a complex community that helps with digestion, provides the vast majority of energy production, the immune system and through the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, it has an important function in your pet&#8217;s behavior. <\/p>\n<p>When this intestinal flora becomes unbalanced, we speak of <strong>dysbiosis<\/strong>. This can lead to: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>itching and skin problems<\/li>\n<li>allergies or sensitivities<\/li>\n<li>Flatulence, diarrhea or constipation<\/li>\n<li>fatigue or lethargy<\/li>\n<li>behavioral changes (anxiety, stress, aggression and depression)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What causes intestinal problems?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A disturbed intestinal flora is often caused by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Processed food or a one-sided diet<\/li>\n<li>antibiotic or medication use<\/li>\n<li>insecticides or antiparasitics<\/li>\n<li>Overvaccination<\/li>\n<li>chronic stress or anxiety<\/li>\n<li>chronic pain<\/li>\n<li>infections or parasites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How does integrative bowel therapy work?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In our practice, we combine <strong>orthomolecular medicine<\/strong>, <strong>Chinese medicine (TCM)<\/strong> and the rapidly growing and innovative science of the <strong>microbiome<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The goal: not only to relieve the symptoms, but <strong>to restore the entire digestive system<\/strong>.
