This package helps with<\/strong> recovery after any surgery where anesthesia has been used. It supports the liver in processing anaesthetics, modulates the postoperative inflammatory response without the side effects of NSAIDs, protects the intestinal wall after surgical stress and supports the emotional processing process of the procedure. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Why additional support after surgery?<\/h2>\n

Surgery is a major event for a dog or cat’s body on several levels at the same time. Anesthesia drugs are broken down by the liver and temporarily increase the oxidative load of liver cells. Surgical stress activates cortisol, which suppresses the immune system and temporarily weakens the intestinal barrier. Tissue damage around the procedure triggers an inflammatory response that is necessary for healing, but slows down recovery when overactivated. <\/p>\n

At the same time, many animals are given an NSAID and sometimes an antibiotic as standard after surgery. Both are legitimate and often necessary, but they also have side effects that burden recovery: NSAIDs inhibit prostaglandins that protect the intestinal wall and kidneys, antibiotics disrupt the microbiome. PEA Complex (PEA and Boswellia)<\/strong> is the key to postoperative inflammatory modulation without the bowel and kidney risks of NSAIDs. PEA inhibits mast cell degranulation and modulates pro-inflammatory mediators via PPAR-alpha. Boswellia selectively inhibits the leukotrienes via 5-lipoxygenase inhibition. Together, they provide broader inflammation modulation than an NSAID alone, and do so without COX inhibition. PEA is therefore a direct addition to the regular NSAIDs: it covers the inflammatory pathways that the NSAID does not touch and partly compensates for the intestinal risks that the NSAID entails.
