Description

NGD Care – Prebiotic fiber is a carefully composed mix of natural fibers and functional substances that serve as food for beneficial intestinal bacteria. Unlike probiotics (live bacteria), prebiotics are fermentable fibers that stimulate the growth and activity of the existing microbiome. Prebiotics are indigestible carbohydrates that cross the gastrointestinal tract and are selectively fermented in the colon by beneficial bacterial species such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus. This creates short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) such as butyrate, propionate and acetate, which nourish the intestinal wall, lower the pH, modulate inflammatory processes and support the intestinal barrier. This Prebiotic Complex has been developed to promote the diversity and stability of the microbiome in a mild but effective way.

This unique formula contains the five main prebiotic groups:

  • Inulin and FOS from chicory root
  • Arabinogalactans from acacia fibre
  • MOS from Saccharomyces boulardii
  • Beta-glucans from the mushroom Agaricus blazei

The product is well suited for a disturbed intestinal balance (after medication, stress, illness), in case of constipation or irregular bowel movements and as part of an integral intestinal protocol. Prebiotics not only help with local gut health, but also have systemic effects through the gut-brain axis, gut-immune axis, and gut-metabolism axis. They can contribute to better tolerance to foods, more stable energy, and a more balanced immune response.
Because sensitive intestines sometimes react violently to large amounts of fermentable fiber, this complex is intended to build up slowly. It can be combined with probiotics, glutamine, lactoferrin and other intestinal supporters. For people with SIBO or severe gas/pain complaints, dosage and type of fiber choice are preferably adjusted by a therapist.

    • Active, untreated SIBO (small intestinal overgrowth).
    • Very severe gas/pain complaints without supervision.
    • Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to specific fiber components.
  • Side effects
    • Common at start or too fast build-up: gas, bloating, sometimes cramps or altered bowel habits. This is usually temporary.
    • In case of persistent worsening, reduce dosage or stop temporarily.
  • Interactions
    • Prebiotic fiber can slow gastric emptying and intestinal transit, which can slightly affect the rate of absorption of oral medications. For most medicines this is clinically irrelevant, but for medicines with a narrow therapeutic breadth (e.g. thyroid medication, some antidiabetic drugs) it is wise to take the medication at a fixed time apart from large fibre doses (e.g. medication fasting, prebiotics with meals).
    • By lowering the pH in the colon and influencing the microbiome, prebiotics can alter the conversion and recirculation of bile acids and hormones (such as estrogens), which may be relevant in hormonal pathways.
    • In insulin or oral antidiabetic medications, improved insulin sensitivity and glucose management due to gut microbiome change may lead to slightly lower glucose requirements; Regular monitoring in case of intensive use is useful.
    • Prebiotics do not have direct CYP450 inhibition or induction, but by modulation of the microbiome, they can influence the gut metabolization of certain drugs over time (e.g., prodrugs, glucuronidation pathways). This is especially relevant in intensive medication processes; Then consultation with a doctor/therapist is desirable.
