Description
Short summary
This supplement helps with: acute and recurring diarrhea, loose or inconsistent stools, intestinal complaints during or after a course of antibiotics, and a sensitive gut in dogs and cats. Probiotics and intestinal wall support in one capsule.
How does Gut Support work for diarrhea and intestinal complaints?
Gut Support works on two levels simultaneously: the microbiome and the intestinal wall. Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast. Because it is a yeast and not a bacterium, it is not killed by antibiotics. This allows it to support the gut flora specifically during and after a course of antibiotics. Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG is one of the most extensively researched probiotic bacterial strains. It adheres to the intestinal mucosa, occupying space that would otherwise be used by undesirable bacteria.
L-glutamine is the primary fuel for the cells of the intestinal wall. It supports the tight junctions: the protein connections that link intestinal cells together, preventing undigested food particles and bacterial substances from leaking into the bloodstream. Zinc carnosine adheres to damaged mucosa and, in human studies, supports the maintenance of the intestinal barrier under stress.
Pectin is a soluble fiber that binds water in the gut, contributing to firmer stools. Simultaneously, pectin serves as food for beneficial gut bacteria. These bacteria convert it into short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate: the colon’s own fuel.
Gut Support is part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: one supplement providing the complete foundation per acute problem, so you don’t have to combine multiple products yourself. For chronic complaints, the phased approach is the foundation, starting with gut recovery. More information about the Gut Recovery Path can be found here.
What does this supplement do?
- Quickly deployable for acute diarrhea, without immediately starting a full protocol
- Supports normal stools in acute and recurring diarrhea
- Helps keep gut flora in balance during and after antibiotics
- Supports the intestinal wall via L-glutamine and zinc carnosine
- Pectin binds moisture and feeds beneficial gut bacteria
- Probiotic yeast and bacteria in one capsule: two complementary pathways
When do you see results?
Gut Support works in layers. From a systems biology perspective, stools react fastest because probiotics and pectin are active directly in the gut. Recovery of the intestinal wall itself requires more time: intestinal cells renew within a few days, but a stable barrier builds up over several weeks.
S. boulardii and pectin are active directly in the gut. In cases of acute diarrhea, stools often become firmer within a few days.
Calmer gut, less flatulence. LGG establishes itself on the mucosa and displaces unwanted bacteria.
L-glutamine and zinc carnosine support the intestinal wall. Fewer relapses during food changes or stress.
Taper off 1-2 weeks after stools return to normal. If diarrhea returns or is chronic, the Gut Recovery Path is the foundation.
If you see no difference after 4 weeks, please contact us via our app or email, or schedule an intake with integrative veterinarian Stefan Veenstra via NatuurlijkGezondeDieren.nl. Always consult a veterinarian immediately if there is blood in the stool, vomiting, or if the animal is lethargic.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How quickly does Gut Support work for diarrhea?
In acute diarrhea, stools often become firmer within 1 to 3 days because Saccharomyces boulardii and pectin are active directly in the gut. Recovery of the intestinal wall via L-glutamine and zinc carnosine takes several weeks.
Can Gut Support be taken at the same time as antibiotics?
Yes. Saccharomyces boulardii is a yeast and is not killed by antibiotics. Preferably administer Gut Support 2 hours after the antibiotics to ensure Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG also remains protected.
Is Gut Support suitable for puppies and kittens?
Yes, using the weight-based dosage. Diarrhea in young animals should always be evaluated by a veterinarian first, as they can dehydrate quickly.
When do you use Gut Support and when the Gut Recovery Path?
Gut Support is the fast-acting first-line remedy for acute diarrhea or a suddenly unsettled gut. If diarrhea lasts longer than 4 weeks, keeps recurring, or if other chronic issues like skin problems are present, the phased Gut Recovery Path is the foundation.
Can Gut Support be used alongside a protocol?
Yes. Gut Support can be combined with any NGD Care protocol, including the Gut Recovery Path. For example, during an acute relapse during a protocol. Coordinate the combination via the app, email, or an intake to ensure ingredients are not doubled up.

Vet Pro Line: fast-acting for acute symptoms
Gut Support is part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: fast-acting supplements that target and reduce an acute problem. One capsule contains the complete foundation from a systems biology and integrative perspective: probiotics, intestinal wall support, and fiber. This makes Gut Support the first-line remedy for acute diarrhea or a suddenly unsettled gut, without the need to start a full protocol immediately. For chronic complaints, the phased approach remains the basis, with the Gut Recovery Path as the foundation: a restored gut is the basis for any chronic recovery.
Works well with
Gut Support supports the microbiome and intestinal wall. The supplements below strengthen this recovery through additional pathways.
Prebiotic Fibers
Gut Support provides the probiotic strains. Prebiotic Fibers provide the substrate on which they grow and produce butyrate. Together, they form a complete synbiotic.
Biofilm Balance
For persistent, recurring intestinal complaints, first break through the biofilm with Biofilm Balance. Afterward, Gut Support fills the vacated space with beneficial strains. At this stage, the Gut Recovery Path is usually recommended.
Shilajit
Gut Support supports the intestinal wall from the inside with glutamine and zinc carnosine. Shilajit provides fulvic acid, which can bind toxins in the gut and supports energy production in the cells of the intestinal wall. Together for faster stabilization of a stressed gut.
Fermented Probiotics
Gut Support provides two well-researched strains for the acute phase. Fermented Probiotics adds the broad strain diversity of water kefir, including yeasts. Together for recovery of microbiome diversity once acute symptoms have passed.
