Description

This product supports with: separation anxiety, fireworks stress, thunderstorms, vet visits, travel or other situations that cause tension. Developed for dogs and cats. Suitable for use on the animal and in the living environment.

How does Anxiety Support work?

Anxiety and stress activate the sympathetic nervous system. The HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) reacts with a cortisol peak, the heart rate increases, muscles tense. This is useful in real dangers. In the case of chronic or recurring triggers such as fireworks or separation anxiety, the activation is disproportionate and the animal benefits from gentle, sensory support that encourages the parasympathetic system.

Smell is the most direct sense for emotional regulation. Scent stimuli reach the amygdala and the limbic system directly via the olfactory nerve, the brain areas that control fear and emotional memory formation. This makes aromatherapy for anxiety problems neurologically meaningful: it works on the same system that controls the problem.

Composition

Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis)

Rich in esters such as isobutyl angelate. Soothing effect on the nervous system in case of nervousness and restlessness. Mild enough for use on sensitive animals.

Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica)

Cedrol and sesquiterpenes with grounding effect. Supports inner stability and a sense of security.

Copaiba (Copaifera officinalis)

High content of beta-caryophyllene with CB2 receptor activity. Grounding and relaxing in case of emotional dysregulation and overstimulation.

Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)

Linalool and linalyl acetate. Uplifting and balancing when stressed. Used in furocoumarin-free form for safe use on the skin.

Frankincense (Boswellia sacra)

Alpha-pinene and incensol acetate. Deepening and regulating effect on the nervous system. Supports breathing and relaxation in case of physical stress symptoms.

Available variants

Roller (diluted blend)

Ready-to-use diluted in carrier oil. Directly topical on the animal: neck, ears or inside legs. Ideal for acute moments of stress and practical for on the road or at the vet.

Pure oil

For use in a diffuser. Supports peace and quiet in the entire living environment. Always dilute when used topically. The whole household benefits.

Use and safety

  • Roller: directly on the animal. Avoid eyes, mucous membranes and broken skin.
  • Diffuser: always provide sufficient ventilation and give the animal the opportunity to leave the room.
  • Pure oil never undiluted on the skin. Dilute in neutral carrier oil (e.g. fractionated coconut oil, 1-3%).
  • In cats: low concentration, well-ventilated area, not directly on fur or skin.
  • Dosage, dilution advice and frequency of use are listed in the attached table.

Part of the NGD Care Anxiety & Stress Protocol

Anxiety Support works most strongly as a supplement to the internal NGD Care Behavioral Protocol. The blend supports the nervous system from the outside via the olfactory system. The internal supplements act from the inside out on the HPA axis, intestinal nerve axis and neurotransmitter balance. Together, they provide support at both the sensory and biochemical levels.

Works well with

Conduct protocol

For structural approach to anxiety and stress from within: neurotransmitters, HPA axis and gut-brain axis at the same time. Anxiety Support works as a sensory complement to the protocol’s internal supplements.

Fireworks protocol

Anxiety Support roller is ideal as part of the full fireworks protocol. Use in combination with the supplements for optimal support in the run-up to and during fireworks.

Fermented Probiotics

Chronic stress disrupts the gut microbiome through the gut-brain connection. A healthy microbiome supports the production of serotonin and GABA. Gut health and stress regulation are inextricably linked.

Omega-3 Fish Oil

EPA and DHA reduce neuroinflammation and support the neuroplasticity needed for a healthy stress response. Fundamental support for behavioural problems with a neurobiological component.

    • Valerian can enhance the sedative effect of anesthetics, antiepileptics and antifungal drugs.

Literature

  • In animal studies (rats, mice), inhalation of bergamot oil is associated with anxiolytic effects, including through enhancement of GABAergic circuits in the brain
    • Bergamot essential oil attenuate aluminum-induced anxiety-like behavior through antioxidation, anti-inflammatory and GABA regulation in rats
