Liposomal PEA complex

€ 47,95

NGD Care PEA Complex is a complementary feed for dogs and cats with 150 mg palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and 150 mg Boswellia serrata per capsule, in liposomal form. PEA is a fatty acid amide that the body also produces itself. Boswellia is a gum resin from the frankincense tree. This complex is formulated for flexible joints.

  • Natural support for chronic pain, inflammation and osteoarthritis
  • Helps with nerve pain, glaucoma, arthritis and intestinal complaints
  • Has an anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effect
  • Liposomal delivery for better absorption
  • Safe alternative or supplement to regular medication

Description

QUICK SUMMARY

PEA Complex is a complementary feed for dogs and cats with 150 mg palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and 150 mg Boswellia serrata per capsule, in liposomal form. This complex is formulated for flexible joints.

What’s in this supplement?

Each 400 mg capsule contains 150 mg palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and 150 mg Boswellia serrata. Both substances are encapsulated by liposomes: small fat bubbles made of sunflower lecithin. The capsule shell is made of HPMC and is therefore plant-based.

The biochemistry of PEA and Boswellia

PEA. PEA is a fatty substance that the body produces itself. It acts as a messenger between cells.

How PEA works. PEA fits into a kind of lock in the cell called PPAR-alpha. Through that lock, the cell receives a signal about which proteins it needs to produce.

Boswellia. Boswellia is the resin of the frankincense tree. The active substances are called boswellic acids and dissolve in fat.

Two routes. Boswellic acids are studied in relation to the enzyme 5-LOX. An enzyme is a protein that allows a reaction to take place in the body. PEA works via a different route, so the two substances complement each other.

How strong is this evidence? The biochemistry of PEA mainly comes from tests with cells and animals. Boswellic acids act strongly on 5-LOX in the laboratory, but in blood, the results are less clear. What this means for dogs and cats at the dosage used does not follow from this.

What does this supplement do?

  • PEA and Boswellia serrata are combined for flexible joints.
  • PEA and Boswellia serrata are intended for maintaining flexible joints, even as animals age.
  • The liposomal form was chosen to support the absorption of these fat-soluble substances.

How to use this supplement

Initial phase

For the first 4 to 8 weeks, give 2x daily: under 10 kg ½ capsule, from 10 to 30 kg 1 capsule, and over 30 kg 2 capsules.

Maintenance

After that, give the same amount once daily. You can continue this for a longer period.

Administration

Give the capsule whole or open it and mix the contents into the food.

Medication

Boswellia can influence the breakdown of some medications. Consult your vet first if your pet is on medication.

Frequently asked questions

What is PEA?

PEA stands for palmitoylethanolamide. It is a fatty acid amide that the body produces itself and is also found in foods such as egg yolks and peanuts.

What is the difference between PEA and CBD?

PEA is a lipid that the body produces itself and that binds to PPAR-alpha. CBD is a cannabinoid from hemp. Both substances are studied within the endocannabinoid system.

Why does PEA Complex also contain Boswellia?

PEA and boswellic acids are different substances with their own biochemical route. PEA binds to PPAR-alpha. Boswellic acids are studied in relation to 5-LOX. That is why they are together in one capsule.

Why a liposomal form?

PEA and boswellic acids dissolve poorly in water. Liposomes are small fat bubbles that encapsulate these substances. We choose this form to support absorption.

My pet is on medication. Can I still use PEA Complex?

Consult your vet first. Boswellia can influence cytochrome P450, an enzyme system that breaks down many medications, as well as blood glucose levels.

Works well with

Mobility Support

Mobility Support contains building blocks for cartilage, such as glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate. PEA Complex is formulated for flexible joints. In this way, the two products complement each other.

O-Mega Blend

O-Mega Blend contains omega-3 fatty acids, which, like PEA, belong to the lipids. Omega-3 fatty acids are incorporated into cell membranes, from which the body also produces PEA.

Curcumin

Curcumin is a polyphenol from turmeric and, like PEA and boswellic acids, is fat-soluble. Curcumin is studied within different signaling pathways than PEA.

CBD oil

CBD is a cannabinoid from hemp and PEA is a body-own lipid. Both substances are studied within the endocannabinoid system, via different routes.

Part of a protocol

PEA Complex is part of the Joint Support Protocol. A protocol is a schedule in which multiple supplements are given in a fixed order.
