In case of chronic or recurring skin complaints, we recommend starting the Bowel Recovery Process in addition to phase 1. Can I combine this process with medication from the vet, such as corticosteroids or apoquel?

Yes, in many cases this process can be used as a supplement to regular medication, and in the long term it can help reduce dependence on corticosteroids. Always discuss this with the prescribing veterinarian and never reduce medication yourself.

Do I always have to follow phase 1 and phase 2?

In the case of one-off or seasonal complaints, phase 1 is often sufficient. In case of chronic or recurring complaints, combining phase 1 with the Bowel Recovery Program and the maintenance combination from phase 2 is recommended for a more sustainable result. You only use the stress and topical options within phase 2 if it is relevant to your animal.

Why doesn’t a skin ointment help permanently with chronic itching?

A skin ointment or antihistamine suppresses the symptom locally, but does not address the underlying immunological imbalance or intestinal permeability. As soon as the drug stops, the symptoms usually return because the cause is still present.

Does my animal have to be examined by the vet before I start this process?

Yes, skin complaints can also have other causes such as mites, fungi or bacterial infections that require specific treatment. Always have your animal diagnosed by a veterinarian before you start this process.
