Dosage and use

• Dosage
  • based on scientific literature.

• Manual
  • Preferably with meals to limit stomach irritation caused by berberine.
  • For therapeutic use: morning and evening.
  • Probiotics preferably take at least 2 hours separately from Para Clean.

• Contraindications
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding (insufficient safety data, do not use).
  • Severe liver or kidney disease only under medical supervision.
  • Decompensated diabetes or use of multiple glucose-lowering agents (due to berberine effect on glucose).
  • Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to components.
• Side effects
  • Possibly: nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea or constipation (especially with high doses of berberine), sulphur odour of breath/urine (NAC), headache in the initial phase.
  • Rare: skin reactions, sharp drop in blood glucose when combined with antidiabetic drugs.
• Interactions
  • Berberine inhibits multiple CYP450 enzymes (CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9, among others) and P-glycoprotein, which can increase the levels of drugs cleared by these pathways. This includes certain statins, calcium channel blockers, immunosuppressants (such as cyclosporine and tacrolimus), DOACs, some antidepressants/antipsychotics, and antiarrhythmic drugs.
  • Inhibiting P-gp can also increase the oral availability of various medications.
  • In addition, by activating AMPK, berberine affects glucose and lipid metabolism, which in combination with antidiabetic drugs (metformin, insulin, sulfonylureas) can lead to additive glucose decrease.
  • NAC affects redox status and acts as a glutathione precursor.
  • NAC in combination with nitroglycerin has a synergistic vasodilator effect, which can increase the risk of hypotension and headaches.
  • NAC can also alter mucosal barrier function and mucous membranes, which can affect the local absorption of medication, although this is usually clinically limited.
  • In an oncology context, there are theoretical concerns that potent antioxidants and thiol compounds (such as NAC) may reduce the effectiveness of certain chemo- or radiotherapeutic protocols; Use in that setting should therefore always be coordinated with the oncologist.
  • In polypharmacy and especially when using products with a narrow therapeutic breadth, it is strongly recommended to use berberine-containing formulas such as Para Reset only in consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.
