Description

Curcumin is one of the best-researched phytonutrients and has a broad effect on oxidative stress, inflammatory pathways and repair processes. However, standard curcumin is almost not absorbed, requiring high dosages that can strain the gastrointestinal tract. NGD Care Human health’s liposomal Curcumin contains the most documented Curcumin C3 and is packaged in phospholipids, making it much better absorbed and less prone to degradation.

This advanced shape supports joint comfort, liver function, immune balance, and free radical protection. It works on multiple levels, including NF-κB, inflammasomes and antioxidant pathways such as Nrf2. This makes it an excellent fit for stress, pain sensitivity, digestive complaints and recovery after intensive physical or mental stress.

Liposomal Curcumin is gentle on the stomach and suitable for daily use. Due to the improved bioavailability, lower dosages are required, which increases tolerance and makes the product ideal for both preventive and therapeutic applications.

  • Interactions
    • Curcumin is known for its influence on multiple phase I and phase II enzymes. In vitro and in animal models, inhibitory effects have been described on several CYP450 subtypes, including CYP3A4, CYP1A1/2, CYP2C9 and CYP2D6. This means that curcumin can theoretically slow the clearance of drugs metabolized by these enzymes, such as certain anticoagulants (including warfarin), some antidepressants, antipsychotics, calcium channel blockers, and immunosuppressants. The clinical relevance is especially important for drugs with a narrow therapeutic breadth.
    • In addition, curcumin inhibits COX-2 and 5-LOX, among others, and affects NF-κB signaling, which can make it anti-inflammatory and change the need for NSAIDs. In combination with anticoagulant medications (DOACs, coumarins), an additive effect on bleeding risk cannot be excluded, partly by influencing platelet aggregation and prostaglandin synthesis.
    • Curcumin can also modulate the expression of transporters such as P-gp, OATP, and BCRP, which can alter the absorption and distribution of certain drugs. This is especially relevant with oral chemotherapeutics, digoxin and some antiviral drugs. In the oncological context and in polypharmacy, it is therefore preferable to discuss curcumin use with the treating physician.
