Description
This protocol helps with: fatigue, joint pain, cognitive decline, and decreased vitality in older dogs and cats. But also preventively: do you want your animal to remain vital, comfortable and full of life for as long as possible? Then you preferably start before the first symptoms. Aging is not an inevitable decay but a process that you can support.
Why a protocol for healthy aging?
Biologically speaking, aging is not a disease but a progressive decline in cellular repair capacity, mitochondrial efficiency, and immune regulation. The hallmarks of aging in dogs and cats are identical to those in humans: mitochondrial dysfunction, loss of proteostasis, chronic low-grade inflammation (inflammaging), telomere shortening and accumulation of senescent cells.
Each of these processes can be supported through specific supplements that mechanistically intervene on those processes. That makes an aging protocol fundamentally different from giving a multivitamin: it focuses on the deepest causes of the aging process, not on its symptoms.
In dogs, cellular aging begins around the age of three to four years for large breeds, five to six years for medium breeds. Starting early gives more effect than only starting when symptoms are already visible.
How does the Old Age Protocol work?
The protocol is divided into a base layer that is always used, and additional layers for specific complaints. There is no strict phasing: the basics are fully started immediately. Additional supplements are added based on the specific complaints of the individual animal.
Longevity Support restores mitochondrial energy production via NAD+, activates sirtuinen via resveratrol and protects nerve cells via ergothioneine. Liposomal Ubiquinone (CoQ10) synergistically supports the mitochondrial respiratory chain with Longevity Support. Liposomal Curcumin inhibits inflammation via NF-kB. MSM/Quercetin Complex clears senescent cells via quercetin. Liposomal Glutathione protects cells and liver from oxidative aging damage.
In older animals with joint complaints, Mobility Support for cartilage building, PEA Complex for pain modulation and O-Mega Blend for COX inhibition are added. This is the complete Joint Protocol in addition to the base layer.
In older dogs with signs of cognitive decline (CDS), Myco Adaptogen Complex for NGF stimulation via Lion’s Mane and Myco Immune Complex for immune modulation will be added. Adaptogen Complex supports the stress response that is often disrupted in CDS.
When do you see results?
Aging processes do not fully return, but their pace can be slowed down and the effects mitigated. From a systems biology point of view, starting early is the most effective: preventive use in middle age gives more results than curative use in advanced age-related complaints.
First signs: more energy and alertness. Less tired quickly. Slightly better pain level with joint complaints.
Noticeably better vitality. Move more smoothly. In the case of cognitive complaints, better orientation and less confusion.
Significant improvement in quality of life. More sense of play. Better resistance. Blood values improve.
Daily maintenance structurally slows down aging. This is a long-term protocol that works best when consistently adhered to.
