Bladder Support

€ 54,95

NGD Care Bladder Support supports the bladder of dogs and cats with recurring bladder complaints. D-mannose and cranberry (≥30% PAC) inhibit E. coli adhesion to the bladder wall, N-acetylglucosamine supports the protective GAG layer, and strains GR-1 and RC-14 support the urogenital flora.

Suitable for: recurring bladder infections, frequent urination in small amounts, and a sensitive bladder, as a supplement to and after veterinary treatment. Part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: quickly deployable for acute bladder complaints. For recurring bladder infections, the Gut Recovery Protocol is the foundation.

Description

Short summary

This supplement helps with: recurring bladder infections, frequent urination in small amounts, discomfort when urinating, and a sensitive bladder in dogs and cats.

How does Bladder Support work for recurring bladder infections?

In a bacterial bladder infection, bacteria—usually E. coli—attach themselves to the bladder wall using tiny hairs (fimbriae). Bladder Support targets this adhesion and the protective layer of the bladder, making it harder for bacteria to get a grip.

D-mannose is a sugar that the body hardly uses and excretes via the urine. In the bladder, E. coli bacteria bind to the D-mannose instead of the bladder wall and are flushed out with the urine. Cranberry extract with at least 30% PAC (proanthocyanidins) inhibits a second type of adhesion. To be fair: the evidence for D-mannose and cranberry comes mainly from human studies. In dogs, results with cranberry are mixed.

The bladder wall is lined with a protective layer of glycosaminoglycans, the GAG layer. N-acetylglucosamine is a building block of that layer. A damaged GAG layer plays a role in bladder complaints without a bacterial cause, such as feline idiopathic cystitis, where stress plays a major role. The probiotic strains L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri RC-14 have been specifically researched for the urogenital flora.

Bladder Support is part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: one supplement per acute problem containing the complete basics, so you don’t have to combine multiple products yourself. For chronic complaints, the phased protocol is the foundation, starting with gut recovery.

What does this supplement do?

  • Quickly deployable for acute bladder complaints, alongside and after veterinary treatment
  • Supports a healthy bladder in case of recurring bladder infections
  • Inhibits E. coli adhesion to the bladder wall via D-mannose and cranberry
  • Contributes to the protective GAG layer of the bladder wall
  • Probiotic strains targeted at the urogenital flora
  • Not a replacement for antibiotics in an active infection, but can be used alongside and afterwards

When do you see results?

Bladder Support is primarily a preventive approach. From a systems biology perspective, the most important result is that complaints recur less frequently, which is only visible after several months.

Day 1-7

D-mannose and cranberry are immediately active in the urine.

Week 2-4

The probiotic strains establish themselves. Calmer urination behavior in case of a sensitive bladder.

Month 1-3

Support of the GAG layer. Fewer relapses after a previous bladder infection.

Week 2+

Continue for 1-2 weeks after symptoms disappear. If the bladder infection returns, the Gut Recovery Protocol is the foundation: the bacteria usually originate from the gut. For cats, a stress management approach is also required.

Straining without passing urine, especially in a male cat, is an emergency: go to the vet immediately. Also see a vet first in case of blood in the urine, fever, or pain. Questions about use? Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does Bladder Support replace antibiotics?

No. In case of an active bacterial infection, veterinary treatment is necessary. Bladder Support can be given alongside and afterwards.

Does Bladder Support also work for cats?

In cats, bladder complaints often do not have a bacterial cause (idiopathic cystitis). In those cases, the GAG layer is particularly relevant, and stress management is important. Our Behavior Support Protocol is a supplement to this product.

When is a bladder problem an emergency?

If a cat, especially a male, strains without passing urine. Go to the vet immediately.

When do you use Bladder Support and when a protocol?

Bladder Support is the fast-acting first-line remedy for acute bladder complaints, alongside and after veterinary treatment. If bladder infections keep recurring, the Gut Recovery Protocol is the foundation, as the bacteria usually come from the gut. For cats, this also includes a stress management approach.

Can Bladder Support be used together with a protocol?

Yes. Bladder Support can be combined with any NGD Care protocol, such as the Gut Recovery Protocol or Behavior Support Protocol.

Vet Pro Line: fast-acting for acute symptoms

Bladder Support is part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: fast-acting supplements that specifically reduce an acute problem. One capsule contains the complete basics from a systems biology and integrative perspective: adhesion inhibition, GAG layer support, and urogenital probiotics. This makes Bladder Support the first-line remedy for acute bladder infections or sudden bladder complaints, without needing to start a full protocol immediately. For chronic complaints, the phased protocol remains the foundation, with the Gut Recovery Protocol as the base: a restored gut is the foundation for any chronic recovery.

Works well with

Bladder Support works on the bladder wall and bacterial adhesion. The supplements below address stress and the gut flora.

Relax Support

In feline idiopathic cystitis, stress is one of the main triggers. Relax Support supports the stress response, while Bladder Support supports the bladder wall.

Gut Support

The bacteria that cause bladder infections usually originate from the gut. A healthy gut flora reduces that reservoir.

Lactoferrin

Lactoferrin binds iron that bacteria need to grow and supports the immune system. Relevant for recurring infections.

Liposomal Curcumin

Curcumin inhibits inflammation via NF-kB. A supplement for an irritated bladder wall.

This information is educational in nature and does not replace a veterinary consultation. Bladder Support does not replace antibiotics for an active infection. In case of bladder crystals or stones, have the type determined by a vet first.
