Description

Short summary

This supplement helps with: stomach complaints, vomiting bile (often in the morning on an empty stomach), nausea, lip smacking, burping, licking the floor, and a sensitive stomach in dogs and cats.

How does Stomach Support work for stomach complaints and nausea?

The stomach wall protects itself against its own acid with a mucus layer and a well-perfused mucosa. During stress, medication use (such as NSAIDs or prednisolone), or with a sensitive stomach, this protection is disrupted. Stomach Support focuses on restoring that protective layer, not on inhibiting stomach acid.

Zinc carnosine attaches to damaged areas in the gastric mucosa and supports its recovery. In Japan, it has been used for decades under the name polaprezinc for human stomach complaints. DGL is licorice extract from which glycyrrhizin has been removed. As a result, it does not have the blood pressure-increasing effect of regular licorice, but it does support the mucus production of the stomach wall. Slippery elm and aloe vera (inner leaf, without the laxative aloin) form a protective gel on the mucosa.

Ginger works against nausea via the serotonin receptors (5-HT3) in the gut and supports gastric emptying.

Stomach Support is part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: one supplement per acute issue providing a complete foundation, so you don’t have to combine multiple products yourself. For chronic complaints, the phased approach is the foundation, starting with gut recovery.

What does this supplement do?

  • Quickly deployable for acute stomach complaints and nausea, without immediately starting a full trajectory
  • Supports the protective mucus layer of the stomach
  • Helps with nausea, vomiting bile, and lip smacking
  • Zinc carnosine and DGL support the recovery of the gastric mucosa
  • Does not inhibit stomach acid: natural digestion remains intact
  • Suitable alongside stomach-taxing medication, in consultation with the veterinarian

When do you see results?

The stomach reacts quickly. From a systems biology perspective, the mucilaginous herbs and ginger provide relief within days. The recovery of the mucosa itself requires several weeks.

Day 1-3

Slippery elm, aloe vera, and ginger are active immediately. Less lip smacking and nausea.

Week 1-2

Less vomiting of bile, better appetite.

Week 2-6

Zinc carnosine and DGL support the recovery of the mucosa. A more stable stomach, even during stress or feed changes.

Month 1+

Taper off as soon as the stomach is calm. If stomach complaints keep returning, the Gut Recovery Trajectory is the basis.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between Stomach Support and omeprazole?

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor: it inhibits the production of stomach acid. This is useful for gastric ulcers, severe esophagitis, or when prescribed by a veterinarian. With long-term use, reduced stomach acid also alters protein digestion, the absorption of nutrients like vitamin B12, and the gut microbiome; stopping can cause acid to temporarily return (rebound). Stomach Support does not inhibit stomach acid but supports the protective layer and the recovery of the gastric mucosa, using ginger to combat nausea.

Can Stomach Support be used alongside omeprazole?

Yes, administer them at least 2 hours apart. If you wish to taper off omeprazole, do so gradually and always in consultation with your veterinarian, due to the risk of rebound.

When should you administer Stomach Support for vomiting bile?

Late in the evening with a small snack, so the stomach does not remain empty for long during the night. Vomiting bile often occurs on an empty stomach in the early morning.

Can Stomach Support be used alongside other medication?

Yes, but administer it at least 2 hours apart from medications, as slippery elm and aloe vera form a gel that can delay absorption.

When should you use Stomach Support and when the Gut Recovery Protocol?

Stomach Support is the rapid first-line remedy for acute gastric complaints, nausea, or vomiting bile. If gastric complaints recur or occur alongside intestinal issues, the phased Gut Recovery Protocol is the foundation: stomach, gut, and stress are closely linked.

Can Stomach Support be used in conjunction with a protocol?

Yes. Stomach Support can be combined with any NGD Care protocol, including the Gut Recovery Protocol. Coordinate the combination via the app, email, or an intake to ensure ingredients are not duplicated.

Vet Pro Line: fast-acting for acute symptoms

Stomach Support is part of the NGD Vet Pro Line: fast-acting supplements that targetedly reduce an acute problem. One capsule contains the complete basis, from a systems biology and integrative vision: mucosal recovery, a protective layer, and anti-nausea. This makes Stomach Support the primary remedy for acute stomach complaints, nausea, or vomiting bile, without needing to start a full trajectory immediately. For chronic complaints, the phased trajectory remains the basis, with the Gut Recovery Trajectory as the foundation: a recovered gut is the basis for any chronic recovery.

Works well with

Stomach Support protects the stomach wall. The supplements below support the rest of the digestive tract and the stress response.

Gut Support

Stomach Support works in the stomach, Gut Support in the gut. Use together for complaints affecting the entire digestive tract, such as vomiting and diarrhea.

Relax Support

Stress is one of the most important triggers of stomach complaints via the gut-brain axis. Relax Support supports the stress response, Stomach Support the stomach wall.

L-Glutamine

Glutamine is fuel for the cells of the gastric and intestinal mucosa. A logical addition for recovery after a period of stomach complaints.

Digestive Blend

Food that remains in the stomach for a long time causes nausea. Digestive Blend supports digestion, Stomach Support the stomach wall.
